When creating e-mails in ContactsLaw with attachments, you have the ability to apply one or more transformations (or actions) before the documents are attached to the message. The actions which are available are dependant on which plug-ins are installed.
This mechanism makes it possible, for example, to:
- Add the attachments to a ZIP file (to reduce their size and limit clutter)
- Upload large attachments to a cloud storage service (and include a link in the e-mail)
- Use a document exchange service instead (to mitigate security risks)
Automatic transformations
Although you can manually specify which actions to apply to the attachments of an e-mail, transformations can also prompt the user if certain conditions are met. For example, if the total attachment size exceeds a certain threshold, you may be prompted to upload the attachments to Dropbox.
A prompt will appear while generating the document if one or more actions are automatically suggested, however you can configure ContactsLaw not to prompt if only one action is to be applied. Manually selecting the action(s) to perform will skip over the automatic suggestion step. Sometimes, the order in which transformations are applied may be significant; if so, you can drag and drop the actions to change their order.
