When deploying
ContactsLaw, it is possible to establish a second
SharePoint document library for the purpose of storing
documents on
archived files. This
long-term document archive can be located on a different server computer, may be housed off-site and will be subject to different policies in relation to backup, storage, performance and load.
On-going heavy utilisation of the main document library can, over time, reduce performance (particularly in relation to the
document search). A growing document library also places pressures on the management/storage of large volumes of data. By moving documents to a separate location upon archival (a process which occurs automatically if a long-term archive is in use), the main document library can be kept at a manageable size, with consistent performance, uptime and load.
Additionally, when documents are added to a
packet, the user is prompted to move the document to the long-term archive.
