At both practice and member levels in ContactsLaw, the payroll tab reports information about payments, superannuation and leave. At either scope, the payroll tab is designed to give members all of the information they need in order to satisfy record-keeping requirements, complete BAS forms and observe company procedures.
The screen is divided into the following views:
- Summary (practice only)
Lists each pay record within a chosen period, showing the total amount(s) paid to members, withheld in tax and allocated to superannuation. It is the entry point for posting new payments.
- Member summary
For a particular member, lists each payment, along with the leave taken, amounts paid, withheld and allocated to superannuation. The member's changing salary, rate and hours are also included. For each pay period, a payroll advice slip can be printed.
- Member totals (practice only)
For a given period (usually a financial year), lists the total hours, leave and amounts paid, withheld and allocated to superannuation for each member over that entire period. If a member is employed for only a subset of the total period, their start and finish dates are also reported. Additionally, the PSAR functionality is accessed from here.
- Payments (members only)
For a particular member, lists all payments and amounts withheld within a given period. This essentially mirrors the list of transactions posted to the Salaries controlled account for the member.
- Leave accruals (practice only)
Lists the leave accrued during each pay period, as well as any leave taken during the period, the running balance of leave and a dollar value representing the 'provision' that must be made to accommodate leave. Depending on the type of member, the report may include annual leave, sick leave, public holidays and/or long service leave.
- For practice - Shows all members across the entire period.
- For member - Shows accruals for the selected member during each pay cycle.
- Long service leave - Shows long service leave accruals.
- Leave calendar
In a calendar format, shows leave taken and/or booked by all members in the practice. This makes it easy to determine the availability of staff on any given date.
- Leave applications
For a particular member (or the entire practice), lists leave applications according to whether they are paid, unpaid or pending approval. This is the entry point for back-posting or requesting new leave.
- Superannuation
For a particular member, lists all activity on the Provision for superannuation controlled account. This includes amounts allocated by the payroll activity, payments made to superannuation funds and any adjustments made. A running balance is shown, representing the amount to be paid into the member's fund.
