The
trust statement wizard automates the process of generating (and sending)
trust statements to
clients, as required under legal profession regulations.
The wizard caters for the three scenarios under which statements must be issued:
- As soon as possible after June 30 each year (qualifying files only)
- Periodically, as files are closed/archived
- On demand, for a particular client
The wizard is divided into the following steps:
Build criteria
In this step, you select the relevant scenario (as shown above) and set additional options to determine which files will be included.
Select destination
ContactsLaw will display the number of qualifying files to give an indication of the work involved. You then select whether to save or print the statements, optionally creating sending tasks for each client.
The generated statements can be converted to PDF (if supported by the report format). If you intend to generate tasks, you must save the statements to a network location which all members can access.
Why aren't trust statements uploaded to the document library?
Since ContactsLaw maintains a complete history of all trust activity on each file, you can re-print a trust statement at any point in time. Storing trust statements as documents would be redundant and costly in terms of disk space and performance. |
By default, ContactsLaw will generate document creation tasks using the 'covering letter' control template which best suits each client's preferred method of communication. You can override the preference or use a specific document template for all tasks.
Generate statements
The statements will be generated. You can minimise the wizard and continue working while the process runs. When all statements have been generated, the wizard will finish.
