Building on the
CRM features of
ContactsLaw,
contact lists are user-defined queries on
contacts which can be used as the basis for
mailouts. They are constructed by combining sets of built-in criteria using boolean operators (and/or/not). It is important to note that the list is defined by its criteria, not by the contacts it contains. If contacts are changed in such a manner that they no longer satisfy the criteria, they will be removed from the list. Similarly, the list can grow if contacts are changed to satisfy the criteria.
List criteria
The following criteria is available:
- Contact types
- Departments/workgroups (prospective or actual)
- Whether a file was opened within a particular period
- Industries
- Location (contacts located in a particular country, state, suburb, postcode or range of postcodes)
- Methods of communication (whether contactably by e-mail, fax, post, telephone or SMS)
- Contacts referred via a particular method
- Whether trust activity occurred within a particular period
- Types of client (prospective/active/former)
- Lawyer's date of admission

Boolean operators
Combining two sets of criteria using the AND operator results in only those contacts that satisfy both sets of criteria.
Combining two sets of criteria using the OR operator results in both sets of contacts being included in the list.
Combining two sets of criteria using the NOT operator results in all contacts in the first set, except for those which also appear in the second set.
Ordering and grouping
Criteria are evaluated from top to bottom, however precedence can be enforced using indentation. By ordering and combining sets of criteria in this manner, it is possible to create very specific lists of contacts.
