All transactions in ContactsLaw are identified by a number that is unique to the system (trust or general) they appear in. Transaction numbers take the form of a two-letter code (e.g. GR, TP, CJ, etc), followed by a dash and then a sequential number that will be a minimum of six digits long. Once your millionth transaction is posted, all subsequent transaction numbers will be seven digits long, and so on.

The maximum number of transactions per database is approximately 9x10¹⁸ (9 quintillion).

 

As well as providing a means for uniquely identifying transactions, the transaction number can also be used to locate transactions in the search. The trust transfer and trust account transfer transaction types have the special characteristic of having two transaction numbers, one for each account/system affected by the transaction.
