ContactsLaw installs quickly and seamlessly onto client PCs via ClickOnce Deployment, from a intranet site hosted on the application server. This intranet site is automatically updated and maintained via Overtech's DDM system.

First-time setup of the server components of ContactsLaw is, however, a manual process which is usually completed by a technician. The process loosely involves:
  1. Installing and configuring the DDM Windows Service on the ContactsLaw application server.
  2. Creating and configuring the document library on the document server. This process includes the installation of the DMIS Web Service if it is not already installed.
  3. Deploying a blank version of the ContactsLaw database on the application server.
  4. Running the first-time setup wizard in ContactsLaw while logged in as the system administrator member.
  5. Configuring the practice and creating members in order to allow work to commence.
  6. Importing contacts, files, transactions, documents and other records from a previous system. The schedule for data migration will depend upon the volume of data to be imported, as well as the implementation strategy (direct-cut, parallel, etc).
