Transaction aggregation is a technique for improving the correlation between transactions in ContactsLaw and those that appear on a bank or credit card statement. They are an important tool in reconciliations.

There are four aggregation activities:
Each aggregation activity displays a list of authorised, unprocessed transactions that fit the criteria pertaining to the aggregation type. A subset of these are selected, processing information is added and those transactions are then linked together via the aggregation.

In reconciliations (and optionally the trust and general bank ledgers), the aggregated transactions will appear as a single line.

Other considerations

  • You can elect to process transactions separately; this will mark the transactions as processed but will not create an aggregation record. Use this option when it is not possible to complete a single deposit/payment for all marked items.
  • Aggregations can be posted retrospectively by selecting the 'include ungrouped processed transactions' option.
  • Deleting an aggregation only removes the grouping; the original transactions are retained.
