In ContactsLaw, bank contacts are entities which represent financial institutions. In addition to traditional banks, building societies, credit unions, investment banks and the postal service are also included in the definition.
 
Branches of bank contacts are termed bank branches and serve a number of uses in the system:

Each bank has a unique 3-letter abbreviation by which they are referred within the financial services sector. Each branch may have one or more bank-state-branch (BSB) numbers, which appear on cheques and EFT records.
