In ContactsLaw, a document may be available when browsing several different locations within the program. For example, a document may be accessible from both the Documents tab on a file and the Documents tab on a contact relating to the document. The breadth of its availability is referred to as the scope of the document.

Factors affecting document scope

  • If the document pertains to a file, it will always be available under the Documents tab on that file.
  • For all contacts associated with the document where the Tab option has been selected, the document will be available under the Documents tab for each contact.
  • Documents with no file or tabbed contacts will appear on the Documents tab for the member who created/registered the document, alongside the uncatalogued documents.
