EntityIn ContactsLaw, a contact is an entity if one or more of the following are true:
  • The contact represents a business
  • The contact has an ABN
  • The contact is a registered or legal entity name (e.g. Supreme Court of Western Australia)
Therefore, individual/sole traders with registered business names also fit into this category, as do banks, courts, law firms and government departments.
 
The following entity-specific details are stored in ContactsLaw:
  • Trading name
  • Abbreviated name (for use in documents)
  • Registered entity name
  • Alternative trading name
  • ABN
  • ACN / ASIC number
  • Category
  • Industry

Entities are predominantly referred to by their trading name.
