A master contact (or master client) is a contact who behaves as though they have the superset of all files belonging to one or more other clients.

It is effectively a grouping and reporting mechanism, since any client-level listings for a master contact will include the files of their 'slave' clients.

A master contact may or may not also be a client, and there are no restrictions governing whether the master must be an entity or individual contact.

The relationship between the master contact and its slave clients can be managed through the contact relationships editor. Alternatively, when creating a new file, the client's master contact can be added or updated.
