A contact becomes a client through the process of
file creation. As a result of this, they gain a
client number. Even if all of the client's files are archived or deleted, they will remain a client.
Clients are treated differently to contacts in reports and statistics. In
CRM reports, the transition from contact to client (where
referral information is entered) is termed a
conversion. Similarly, a conversion rate represents the number of contacts (within a given category) who have become clients.
In order to become a primary client, a contact must meet the following requirements:
- The contact must have a telephone number*
- The contact must have either a mailing address -or- both a physical address and an e-mail address
- The contact must have referral details entered*
- The contact must have an industry specified*
In order to become a secondary/alternate client, a contact must meet these requirements:
- The contact must have a telephone number*
- The contact must have either a mailing address -or- both a physical address and an e-mail address
* These settings are configurable on a per-company basis.
